I have tried using Twitter in the classroom. The students don’t want to mix their personal accounts with other students and, god forbid, the teacher. With a little set-up time there are alternatives like Yammer. A couple of mobile options are available if your students all have cell phones, but they are more like classroom responders. (QuestionPress, Socrative, or Nearpod).
Langwitches’ Sylvia Tolisano suggests using Twitter as a curation tool. She explains the process that goes from Collaboration to Curation using aspects of Critical Thinking. Good information, but I am still not convinced Twitter is worth the distraction.
